I had to wait 4 years after coming back from the US before I could go on a
new adventure. The year is 1992, the place Montpellier,
France. The months I spent on the Sup
de Co were really great, not in the last place as this is where I started
my spanish connection.
I have not been able to leave it ever since. In the beginning of 1993 I started
my internship with Philips in Brussels.
By then I had almost finished my studies but strange enough did not yet have
the urge to go out and get a job ( : - ). So hey, why not study another year
in the south of France? It would keep me out of the army and give me another
great year of sun, sea and... yes, I actually did study this time around. Spent
a year on the IAE Montpellier (Institut
d'Administration des Entreprises).
After that there was no escape; money had to be made. Did some interviews
in France to work there (Leroy Merlin)
and wrote many letters to Spain. Not the best of situations as this would be
my first job. So at the 1st of Januari 1996 I started working at Exact
Software, in the Netherlands after which I moved on to the ABN
AMRO Bank in Februari 1997. This is where I got the chance to get to know
this great product called Lotus
Notes. It is therefore no coincidence that exactly two years later (Februari
1999) I moved on to work with Lotus Development
itself.
Now why leave a great job for the incertainty of travelling? It's not something you decide in one day; it definately is not something I decided in one day. It's just something I've got to do. The people around me will know exactly why I'm doing this.
Now that's something; writing about yourself! As if the picture below doesn't
say it all. I was born on the 25th of May 1970 in a small town in the south of
Holland, Lieshout, home of the Bavaria brewery.
I spent the first 17 years of my life cycling around between the towns of Lieshout,
Nuenen and Eindhoven, before going off on my first real trip. As an exchange student
I went to the US for a year. In Clarkston,
Michigan I met the greatest bunch of people, had my best experiences ever as well
as my worst.
Finishing of this already too long of a story, I'd like to mention a couple
of stars who crossed my life at one point or another (if you're left out, tough
luck but no hard feelings):
